Elderberry! A local hike yields some wonderful Elderberries. We are making syrup in anticipation of the fall cold and flu season. Elderberry has been widely studied for its powerful immune-boosting properties. The berries contain chemical compounds called Anthocyanins. Found in many purple foods, Anthocyanins are known to have immunostimulant effects. Research actually shows that elderberry syrups and tinctures are a safe and cost-effective treatment for cold and flu symptoms, also very easy to make at home!
